Over Thanksgiving break, I journeyed into the world of Harry Potter with my parents and sister. We woke up early in the morning and beat (almost) everyone to Diagon Alley, the Butter Beer, and Harry's Forbidden Journey ride. The Butter Beer surpassed my expectations; it was sweet, creamy, and left a little white mustache on everyone's lip. We deliberated for quite some time about which wands to buy, and I finally settled on Hermione's green-tinged, leaf-covered one. After dueling in the alleyways, my sister and I went off to brave the other rides in the park. On Thanksgiving day, we spent time in the hot tub before enjoying a traditional feast, ordered from the local grocery store of course! It was an enchanting, memorable vacation, and I would recommend that any Harry Potter fan check out the park!
Over Thanksgiving break,My Moms brother and parents came over. I got to see my cousin who is 3 years old. My aunt and other cousin could not come because my Aunt was sick and my baby cousin had an ear infection. Also, some family, friends came over for Thanksgiving. The next day me, my parents, my Uncle, and Cousin went to the downtown mall. Overall I had a very fun Thanksgiving break.
ReplyDeleteOn the Friday of Thanksgiving Break, I woke up at five in the morning, threw on some warm clothes loaded my rifle, and went hunting.
ReplyDeleteI had stayed up late the night before so, waking up at five in the morning wasn't the most fun thing in the world. It was worth it though because I was hopefully going to kill my first deer. I had to dress warm because it was thirty-four degrees that day. I put on my long underwear, long warm cargo pants, a short sleeve shirt, a turtle neck, and a camouflage jacket.
My dad and i drove to the property we hunt on. He drove me to where we put our blind (a pop up camouflage tent) then gave me my rifle and drove off. We set up our tent, loaded our guns, and waited with the cold biting all our unprotected skin.
After sitting for an hour or so, we saw nothing at all. My dad and I tried to call in some deer by clanking antlers and blowing in the deer call. Still nothing. After about thirty more minutes, I finally asked,
" Dad, we haven't seen anything, can we go?"
He told me to eat a turkey biscuit then we would go. After i finished, we were getting ready to unload our guns when the words i had been waiting for all morning escaped my dads mouth.
"Buddy, there's a deer" I looked up and sure enough three doe's strutted on to the field. I raised my rifle, and my dad said," whenever you're ready just squeeze the trigger." He whistled then the first deer looked up and i took my shot. I was dazed for a moment; i remember my dad telling me I hit it, and i saw her run across the little creek then fall.
I had killed the deer within about two minutes of impact. From sixty yards away i had a lung shot, so she didn't suffer and died fast. My dad was very proud and said he was happy to share the moment with me.
The rest of my Thanksgiving break was fun and I got to spend time with my family. I had a very fun break.-Mckellar cox
My Thanksgiving break was awesome. On Tuesday night I got in the car for the 8 hour drive to Charelston, it was really boring because my parents limited me to only 6 hours of electronic entertainment. Happily arriving at our destination, we were greeted welcome with hugs and (unfortunately) kisses. Our dog Coco (whom had slept the entire trip) jumped out of the car to go play with my grandparents dog Misty. That night I got to play poker with my grandpa Gene because he had some friends over. Me and my dad ended up losing 5 out of 10 dollars, but it was still fun to play. Thursday night I ate my Thanksgiving dinner happily. That night I slept great with my dog Coco on the end of my bed. Friday morning we went to the beach to find shark teeth. After finding a few big ones we left for home. I dont think my thanksgiving could have been better! -Lindsay
ReplyDeleteSorry forgot to capitalize that last Thanksgiving -Lindsay

ReplyDeleteOver my Thanksgiving break, I mostley played ps3. I had a great time doing nothing! I played on the system until my Dad/Mom either, kicked me of because I played too much, kicked me off because they wanted to watch TV or made me go do some work. The work I did was, mulch and mow the lawn, do some work on my guters and do some work around the farm. Not that much.
Me and my Dad are putting up a tree fort, its a slow process. We only realy accomplished putting on more boards. At least we are making it safer. Its hard to nail on boards. I hold them while my Dad hits nails into them. Sometimes when he misses the nail he hits the wood and it makes a deafining noise that makes my ears hurt.
For Thankesgiving I went over to my Grandparents's house. I had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos, mashed sweet potatos, broccoli, corn pudding(wich isn't a pudding at all!) and of course cranberreys! For dessert I had a little slice of keylime pie, a little slice of apple pie(both made by my Mom) and one canberry coverd in milk chocalate from Nantucket. My sister made a bach of fuge with extra M&Ms, I didn't have any because I thought that she poisoned it. Nice sister, right?
Wow, these are looking great, guys! I'm so impressed with the quality of your writing. Well done :) -Ms. W
ReplyDeleteOver Thanksgiving break, my maternal Grandparents came down on Wednesday. When they got here we went to Boylan Heights for lunch, and afterward we went to the Downtown Mall. Thanksgiving day was a lot of fun, we played Football with our friends and watched NFL Football. On Saturday, my paternal Grandfather came down for the UVA game. I really enjoyed being at the game with him.
ReplyDeleteOver thanks giving break, I worked with my good friend Jakob on a project were doing, called the Nike Mag project. I also practiced basketball, in which I improved my shot. Thanksgiving was great as usual, we went up to my grandparents. To conclude my break we went to the UVA game, in which we were utterly crushed. To sum it all up, would have to say my break was pretty average.
ReplyDeleteMy Thanksgiving break went by really fast, mainly because I was waiting until Saturday when the UVa game was. After the FSU game, I could not wait to play the Hokies, but I was disappointed with the play of the Hoos, but I was also clenching my hands in to fists trying not to punch out this hillbilly fan(what else can you expect from VT). I enjoyed the Packers win on Thanksgiving day and for the most part the turkey was good, not dry but exceptionally juciy and the mashed potatoes were really good. Our family had no relatives over. Good grandparents, right? Overall my break was sub-par and I probably would have had more fun losing five dollars.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Ms. Wilson did you notice my allusions to other blog posts. Do we get bonus points for humor.
ReplyDeleteFor Thanksgiving, my family decided to fly to Texas and spend time with my Dad's side of the family. My Uncle Robert and Aunt Li live in Plano, a city near Dallas. We bought our plane tickets from Virginia to Texas ahead time and packed our bags. We were due to leave Wednesday because even though I had the two days off, my parents and brother did not.
ReplyDeleteAs the Saturday before Thanksgiving disappeared, a new obstacle grew up in front of us, my brother was sick. He developed a cough that shook the house every few seconds, and spent his hours of precious weekend lying motionless on the couch. When Monday morning arrived, it was clear he was not going to school. My father started to look for a later flight as ours was early in the morning and my mother called and jokingly told us she would be going anyways as she was flying from her job in Boston and not with us. As our chances of venturing to the land of black gold dwindled I shamelessly pushed my brother to go anyways.
In the end, for better or worse, we got up at the break of dawn and set off in our new minivan for Dulles. We had drugged my brother up good with Advil and bought him halls cough drops which we hope would get him through the flight. We boarded the plane and sat there for the four hour flight and eventually we landed. We landed and immediately went to find our check on bag. After we gathered our belongings we walked out side to of the airport in the Texan sun, I couldn't help being happy we came.
We almost immediately found my fathers brother, my uncle. He ushered us into his Honda minivan( Not nearly as nice as our Toyota.) and we drove off to Plano. When we got to the house a crowd of family was already there to give us warm hugs. We spent our days having thanksgiving dinner where I was the appointed wine holder, and eating huge Chinese feasts at my aunt's sisters house. Oh yeah, we also shot guns.
