Holiday Traditions (Due Friday, December 16th)

What are some of your family's holiday traditions?  OR What are you most looking forward to over Holiday Break?

For example, if you were Bob Cratchit from A Christmas Carol, you might write:

I look forward to going down the slide at Cornhill twenty times in honor of Christmas Eve and then playing blindman's buff again like a boy.  Taking Tiny Tim to church is always special because of his thoughtful observations.  My wife's cooking is always a treat, especially her scrumptious goose and Christmas pudding.  I look forward to sitting around the fire with my family and passing the custard-cup back and forth while we revel and play games.  Even though Mr. Scrooge doesn't understand it, Christmas Day is different from the rest of the days of the year, and I look forward to enjoying it with my family!

  1. My Christmas is full of fun and traditions. At my moms on Christmas, my little brother and sister wake me up at six in the morning(they are usually up at four or five waiting for everyone to get up). We then tear open our presents and never know what they are because mom puts them in huge boxes, even if they are very small. we then drive over to my grandparents house at lunch and eat a scrumptious ham with gravy and mashed potatoes. once we are done with that we play with our presents until its night. We watch a Christmas movie, then go to bed.-Mckellar cox

  3. My Christmas holiday has some traditions which may be called annoying for some people. It starts with me waking my brother up at 3:30 in the morning. We then run down the stairs get out our voice changers from the toy closet. I run into my parents room and scream into my voice changer "ITS CHRISTMAS," while my brother gets out the silly string. My parents usually yell at us when we get them up so early and spray silly string all over the house. For that she says we can oly open five presents and the we have to go back to sleep (I personally think opening five presents then is better than waiting till 7:00). We pick our presents with care usually starting with the one bought by each other. After opening those presents we say goodnight to our parents. We go back upstairs, not to go to bed, but to play with our new toys. We cant go to sleep, for the entire time we are staring at our clocks waiting for it to say 7:00 so we can go downstairs and celebrate Christmas. My favorite part is giving my dog a new bed and a whole rib eye steak for her Christmas present! Merry Christmas everyone! -Lindsay Bonner

  7. Speaking of Christmas trips, I am looking forward to my trip to colorado. For a week we will be skiing on fresh powder. Everyone in our family is going. I found it likely that my younger brother will whom is 8 would not be good enough in time to go. I was wrong because he has improved over the previous year. EVERYONE REMEMBER CHRISTMAS TWO DAYS EARLY!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~XD =) -Lindsay Bonner

  9. I am looking foward to having a wonderfull Christmas and definitly a good New Year, I also hope to have a nice Superbowl.I am hoping for persents and candy, but most of all, all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth! My family has lots of Christmas traditions, we love decorating the Christmas tree, we put out milk and cookies for The Easter Bunney and we wait all night with a gigantic hammer near the Chimney. For some reason, we never seem to find him. Mabey its because we fall asleep (or that he isn't real). We also like to go over to my Oma's house on Christmas eve and open presents. Then we go back home(we only live at the most, a mile away) and go strait to bed. The next morning, My brothers wake up at who knows when, and pilige their stockings. They take everything out without anyone knowing and look at it(only if its in their stocking). Normaly, in our stockings, we get a CD or two, a flashlight, mabey some coal, and a top or a trinket. The last few Christmases we got a candy cane filled with M&Ms in our stocking too. This year i'm asking for a Aerosmith CD and either a ACDC CD (haha, that looks funney!)or a Who CD. I hope to have a great Christmas and I hope you have one too!

  11. On Christmas morning I usually wake up earlier than usual(12:00 am versus 1:00 am to be exact). Then I head down stairs to open my presents. Most of which I chose and bought, but pretend to act surprised. After I open and play with my presents, my grandparents and a few close family friends come over for dinner. The dinner of course takes at least 6 hours for my mom to prepare. After hours of gorging and stuffing I usually head to bed. Those are what our Christmases are like.

  12. I am really looking forward to going down to St. Marteen. We are going down there with friends. On Christmas day, we are leaving and staying there for a week. When I am down there, I am looking forward to going to the beach and watching the Chick Fil A Bowl on TV.
