  1. The poet I am doing is Emily Dickinson who was around in the 1800's. What i thought was interesting, was that the poems she wrote were about things that could happen (and would) that wasn't invented yet.

  2. The poet I am researching is Shel Silverstein. Shel was 68 years old when he died and he died may 10, 1999. One interesting fact about Shel is that Shel dedicated his book a light in the Attic to his daughter Shanna. She died at age 11 because she had a Cerebral aneurysm.

  3. My poet is Pablo Neruda. Neruda was born on July 12, 1904. One thing I found interesting about him is as follows. A speech he made on June 5, 1946, gives a tribute to the late Soviet leader Mikhail Kalinin. Neruda later came to rue his support of the Soviet leader. I realize now that Neruda was a fine poet. Neruda died of heart failure on the evening of September 23, 1973.

  4. My poet is Robert Frost.
An interesting fact about him is that he sold his first poem in 1894, it was called "My Butterfly. An Elegy" for 15 dollars, about 300 dollars today. Proud of his accomplishment, he proposed to marry Elinor Miriam White. She demurred. Frost then went on an trip to the Great Dismal Swamp in Virginia and asked Elinor again upon his return. HAVING GRADUATED (the reason why she said "no"), she agreed, and they were married at Lawrence, Massachusetts on December 19, 1895.(you can look up the poem at http://www.internal.org/Robert_Frost/My_Butterfly)

  5. Edgar Allen Poe is my poet. Something that I thought was interesting, was that brain congestion, cholera, rabies, tuberculosis, and a few other things are attributed to his death (which are some of the less known things); along with alcohol, drugs, and suicide (which are the things that people tend to know more).

  6. My poet is Gwendolyn Brooks.
Gwendolyn Brooks was born on June 7, 1917 and died on December 3, 2000. An interesting fact is that she was the first African American to receive the Pulitzer Prize after she wrote "Annie Allen". Another interesting fact is that she first started writing poetry when she was thirteen.

  8. E.E. Cummings was born in 1894. He decided to become a poet as a young child and wrote a poem a day all through his early childhood, trying many of the classic styles. He started at Harvard in 1914 and started to experiment with modern poetry. He experimented with many styles and eventually created his own. He is one of the most popular poets that made his own style and experimented with new ones.
