Author Interview Response (Due Friday, January 13th)

Watch the interview above; then, write a response of at least five sentences.  Your response should include your reaction to your author.  Did anything about his or her appearance surprise you?  Were you surprised by anything he or she said?  Are there any questions that you wish you could ask him or her?  What do you think your book will be about based on this interview?

  1. Hearing James Dashner speak about his book made me want to get my hands on it right away. I love the idea of the Glade and wonder how this kids are going to live every day life and what is on the outside of the maze. I am itching to learn more about the "hideous Creatures" that linger in the Glade. If i were in the maze the Maze Runner job sounds the most fun. exploring the glade would be overwhelming and exiting. Can't wait to start reading.-Mckellar Cox

  2. After hearing this I felt very interested in the Maze Runner. I wanted to read the book all day until I finished it. My thoughts are that the Maze Runner Job sounds cool, but extremely dangerous. With all of those creatures running around thier home, I bet the creatures know thier way around the maze well, where as the teens have less knowledge of the maze and could get lost if chased. One thing that im curios about is how they got animals down there, were they already there or did they find them in the maze? The book sounds really exciting and I cant wait to read it, but I must know, is there a corrupt overlord or is this just an irregular occurence?? -Lindsay Bonner

  5. I was very surprised when I saw Suzanne Collins. i don't have an image in my head of what I thought she would look like but I did not think she would look like that. One thing that surprised me was how she got the idea by watching TV and she saw a game show and some images of the Iraq war. There are no questions that i want to ask her. I think my book will be about fighting others and trying to stay alive. -Jacob Gavin

  6. When I first saw James Dashner the first thing that went into my mind was that he looked like he could be an average guy working an average job. My expectations were exceeded when I finished the book. My expectations were high even before I saw the interview. Some of the questions I would ask would be why are the kids there and why are they all boys?

  7. When I first watched the interview, I wasn't expecting someone that young to have written a book such as Divergent. The story that she has written is extremely intriguing, and I have enjoyed every bit of the book so far. I wish I could ask the author if some of the story was based of of her experiences.

  8. I did not think that Suzzane Collins would look like this. I thought that she did a good job in explaining how she came up with the book. I thought that the Maze Runner would be a much more "fun" book to read. He did a better job of making his book seem better. I later find out how amazing the hunger games are, I'm glad I picked the hunger games.
