A Letter to those in Power (Due Friday, January 27th!)
One characteristic of a dystopian society is that the government is oppressive and all-controlling. In each of the novels you are reading, society follows very different rules. This week, your task is to write a letter to the government convincing them to change their ways.
If you are reading The Hunger Games, you must write to the Capitol and plea with them to end the Games and their brutal suppression of the Districts. Try to appeal to their emotions, their intellect, or their sense of justice.
If you are reading Divergent, you must write to the leaders of Erudite and Abnegation and ask them to change the separation of the factions. Try to appeal to their emotions, their intellect, or their sense of justice.
If you are reading The Maze Runner, you should send a letter to those outside of the Maze and explain the injustice of it. Try to appeal to their emotions, their intellect, or their sense of justice.

Dear whoever you are,
ReplyDeleteI am not saying I am ungrateful for the food you send and closing the walls every night, but I wanna go home.
I miss my memory and miss whoever was in my life before. and think about this, how could you do this to us kids. The oldest is probably eighteen and the youngest twelve. I promised this kid that I would get him home no matter what. I promised he would see his mother again. even if you can't get us out right away, at least send us a clue, we don't know what to be looking for.
thank you,
Thomas-Mckellar Cox
Dear shuck face

McKellar: I am not ungrateful for the food.
DeleteVance: I am very grateful for the food.
Just a coincidence? Hmmmm. NO WAY X<D
Dear capitol,
ReplyDeletePlease stop the Hunger Games. Many innocent children who are between the ages of 12-18 are dying. Imagine how you would feel just getting thrown out there being told to kill everyone and survive. Some of the children in this are just 12 years old. It is also just depressing. People watching other people fight to the death in my opinion that is just sick. Please stop the Hunger Games i beg of you
thank you, Katniss

Uh-Oh Jacob forgot a couple periods at the end, poor jacob is gonna lose a few points. :) < :(
DeleteDear shucking klunk-face who put is in this maze. We are trying to be as nice as possible when we say, "LET US OUT OF THIS SHUCKING MAZE!!" We are sorry if you find this offensive but we have been stuck in this maze for two years. For two years we have been trying to survive. For two years we have been risking our lives in the maze. FOR TWO YEARS WE HAVE BEEN GETTING KILLED BY GRIEVERS! We have participated in your trials. We have tried them long enough. All we want, is too leave and go home. We don't want vengeance, we don't want rewards for surviving so long, we don't want REVENGE. So please, just PLEASE let us go home. It is our only request. Yours Truly, Thomas ~~ Lindsay Bonner
ReplyDeleteDear faction leaders of Abnegation and Erudite
ReplyDeleteI am writing to you to inform you of the severity of the effect your factions differences are causing the city. Our city depends on the unity and cooperation of all the factions living within it. Erudites should know what this manner of inter faction fighting can do to tear a unified civilization apart. As for Abnegation your retaliation and anger towards the Erudites is only creating more strife for citizens of the city and if you continue down this path it will destroy the lives of many.
Dear Dauntless rulers
ReplyDeleteThe trials I have had to endure, have shown me that many of the old rules have been forgotten. I am writing too you begging you to reinforce the importance of teamwork, and that the power of team work is greater than ones own desires.

Dear President Snow.
ReplyDeletePlease, let the hunger games stop. You didn't participate in the games! You dont know what they have to go through! I do! You obviously have no feelings, knowing that you can stop it but you don't! Please, reconsider! Think about the people dying, think about your child dying in the games! Just think.
Sincerely,
Katniss.
